Adelyn's Cure Update: September 2017
We apologize for not posting any updates on here in a few months, and we will make sure to do so from now on. As of right now, the Bone Marrow Transplant is still on hold as Adelyn's Iron levels continue to be monitored. She is continuing the same treatment that she has received since birth, blood transfusions every 3 to 4 weeks. Although it is wearing on her as far as the amount of Iron that is going into her system every month, it is currently the safest treatment she can receive for her rare blood disorder. Her ferritin levels have been increasing each visit which leads to some concern since she is at the highest dosage on her Iron chelation medicine that she can receive. The real results of how much Iron buildup she has can not be determined without an MRI of the liver, which is scheduled for November. This will help determine the timeline for her BMT, which she will have to undergo at some point, whether it be in the next year or in 5 years from now. It is truly an ongoing journey.
We continue to receive an outpouring of support and we can not tell you how thankful we are for that. Many of you have asked how else you can show your support. You can make a donation by clicking here. We have also made wristbands for all of our supporters as a thank you. Simply message us to get yours and we will be happy to send it to you. We really love it when you post pictures wearing your shirts or wristbands on her hospital days. It's one of those little things that makes the experience a lot less stressful. If you would like to get more frequent updates, please follow her Facebook page.
